Online Programs

NIU's online courses blend the best of traditional education with innovative technology to bring students a creative, high-quality learning experience. This spring, NIU is offering more than 35 online courses from six of its colleges.

Just like in a traditional course, you will have an instructor, fellow students, study materials, papers and tests. Using a “blended model” of online instruction, many online courses combine face-to-face meetings and field trips with online activities that may include lectures, group projects, role-playing exercises and learning games. Some instructors schedule regular chat sessions where the whole class is online together.
